So. We didn't feel the wind on friday night ( finee we did but it wasnt' justifiably violent ) . So we didn't understand why Phantasmic ( disney's water show ) and the fireworks were canceled. But everything came clearer the next day~. Not having tv makes you a little uninformed =X.
Saturday the 15th is Gama-go's sale in Los Angeles ( the shop where the butt ugly jacket i posted in an earlier post ). It's rare cos they're sanfrancisco based and are private designers so shops don't carry their designs. 75% off and rare prints got me interested so yeah been planning the trip up to LA for weeks.
However. It is unfated. We had to abandon the plans. ( after begging driver to drive too T^T sorry munhow! ) Because of this~
Apparently there were wildfires raging from the night before. Before i left the house Mark did mention about wildfires near Rowland heights ( our 2nd planned destination where the toy store is located ) So we thought fine..we'll just head to LA then~....but then we were so underestimating the situation hehe.
The source of smoke you see above is from the fire near rowland heights just north of us that is inching towards residential area in yorba linda. We drove past this area a week ago to see a car up in corona D: I wonder if its all black now.
The smoke cloud is not just fueled by that fire. Apparently there is a bigger fire ( btw the fires are apparently still burning to this point of time but contained ) up in north LA just north of the sale area!!!! =________=. As we were driving on the 5 towards LA past disneyland, the sun turned red blanketed by the smoke and the air turned bad. Once we reached knottsberry in bueno park it started pelting ash onto our windshield =________=. We hear reports of ppl evacuating their cars on the highway up in north LA on the radio and with the car not having aircon we could smell the smoke thickly in the air..and visibility on the highway worsen.
Of course we turned around. And drove back down south. Its just not worth it =<. But the sky was clearer where we came from so we decided to head to Balboa island to experience THE FROZEN BANANA. My dear arrested devlopment fans i went to the Island not the peninsular cos there's 2 famous stalls there. Next time ill go find the stall at peninsular..or at least the location and try the candy apple that i saw Gob eating instead XD!

It tastes like frozen banana. What can i say =x. I wished it wasn't frozen though cos it hurts my teeth XD;
There's like 2 rival stalls side by side both advertising that they're the founder of frozen bananas. The island is actually mostly residential except for that short strip with shops and the 2 banana stands. The houses there actually have private piers!! but it wasn't a pretty sight due to the drought and the lack of water in the channels XD; To rent a place here it can set you back from 2k to 4k A WEEK. And the houses here range from 2 million to 5 million. According to the ads. The houses don't even look big. They look like the size of chalets lol but some had beautifully decorated lawns =)
I think there's alot more of newport beach ive yet to explore =)! I kinda prefer taking the bus down cos you just discover more things while walking :D! Next time we'll go round the peninsular XD. Meanwhile i need to watch more arrested development XD and lose sleep over it!
